I was supposed to write about our trip in Malaysia six months ago, but it was a week after our trip that the world started to shut down due to the pandemic.
It is a little bit depressing and frustrating to write about a travel experience knowing that traveling is impossible at the moment of writing. But my hopes are high, new normal will surely include in and out of the country travels when the right time comes.

With just an hour away by plane from the Philippines, Malaysia is one of the Asian countries you would want to visit if you are looking for another tropical country that is multi-ethnic and multi-religious being Islam as its official religion.
Day 1:
First day of itinerary was more on getting to know Malaysia. With that being said, we visited:
- KL Gallery
- Merdeka Square
- Sunway Lagoon
- National Museum
- Batu Caves (personal favorite)
Going around in Malaysia is not that difficult because of the KL Sentral or also known as the Central Station (I call this Araneta Cubao area) which is a hub for buses and trains to transport you to other nearby cities and provinces. Grab taxis and private vehicles are also abundant just like in Metro Manila.
Day 2:
Second day was about checking out Putrajaya (this is where all of their government offices are located) and having fun and relaxation in one of their famous amusement parks: Lost World of Tambun in Ipoh, that houses 88 attractions, 10 parks, and 123 animal species. Best part for me was the trip in an enchanted/illuminated forest (just like in Avatar). I suggest to reserve/book to get a discount in Klook.
The Lost World of Tambun in Ipoh (which I call hot springs in Laguna) is 3 hours away (by train) from KL Sentral. It is best to buy the train ticket in advance because there is a strict and limited schedule of trains going to that area.
Day 3:
Third day of our trip was to check out the famous towers:
- Petronas tower
- KL tower (side trip to KL Upside Down House)
Day 4:
Fourth day of our trip is what I call our trip to Antipolo. 🙂
In order to reach Genting Highlands, you would need to ride a cable car which took 15 minutes for us to reach the top. As the cable car slowly elevates, we suddenly felt pressure in our ears. It was raining that time, thus the fog was thick. A little spooky trip!
Genting Highlands, also known as Resorts World Genting, is a go-to place if you are looking to shop, get entertained, play casino, explore indoor and outdoor theme parks, and enjoy nightlife. We’ve tried some rides in Skytropolis and even played Sungka. There are also several museums that you can visit such as: The Ripley’s Believe It or Not, 4D Trickeye Art Museum, Jurassic Research Center, and Zombie Outbreak (Ghose House). We chose The Ripley’s and enjoyed the displays and activities there.
Price of food, hotels, and transportation does not differ much in our country. For 5 days and 4 nights of stay, our budget per head excluding airfare was 15000 PHP.
